Continuing Rehabilitation Education

Continuing Rehabilitation Education aims at updating the knowledge and skills of professionals working in different areas of disability. Ecomwel Orthopaedic Centre in collaboration with Rehabilitation Council of India conducts this 5 day training programme and is a precondition for revalidation of registration of professionals / personnel. Its objectives are,

  1. To upgrade the knowledge and skills of in service and practicing rehabilitation professional & personnel already registered with RCI.
  2. To update professional knowledge of Master trainers working in the field of Rehabilitation and special education.

Early Detection and Early Intervention

Early intervention refers to the introduction of planned programme, deliberately timed and arranged in order to alter the anticipated or projected course of development.

A team of professionals of Ecomwel Orthopaedic Centre – Special Educators, Rehabilitation therapist and Pediatrician does this job by prescribing appropriate remedial plans for the children.

We provide training on early detection and early intervention to rehabilitation professionals, nursing trainees, village health nurses and Anganwadi workers. We are serving as Nodal Agency for Govt. of Tamilnadu and have conducted 10 days training to ICDS (Integrated Child Development Scheme) grade II supervisors in 6 districts of Tamilnadu.

10 Days Multi Category Residential Training Programme for Special Educators

10 days multi category residential training programme was provided to the special educators belonging to 10 districts of Tamilnadu covering all types of disability under Sarva Siksha Abiyan – Inclusive Education for the Differently abled.

Topics covered in the training were Capacity building, Services for the disabled and Legislations, General pedagogy and introduction to disability, Visual impairment, Hearing impairment, Mental retardation, Orthopaedic disabilities, Learning disability and Multiple disabilities. .

Care Givers Training

Care Givers training a 6 months course is conducted in active collaboration with National Trust, New Delhi under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

The main objective of this programme is to provide direct care giving services to children with Autism, Mental Retardation, Cerebral Palsy and Multiple Disabilities.

Internship Training

Social work students, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists and Teacher trainees come to Ecomwel Orthopaedic Centre for their internship training as part of their curriculum.

Ecomwel Orthopaedic Centre has MOU with ASA, Germany for providing internship training to the students from abroad. ASA is a network for learning in the field of development policy addressed to students and young professionals between 21 and 30 years. ASA – exchange stands for understanding global connections, for commitment to and learning about development policy. ASA offers scholarship for 3 month work and study stays in Africa, Asia, Latin America and South Eastern Europe. Until now 3 batches of trainees from Germany have been trained in Ecomwel Orthopaedic Centre and have successfully completed their internship. Click here for Photo Gallery

Training on Inclusion

With Inclusive Education for the Disabled gaining momentum, training on inclusion to the regular school teachers becomes all the more important.

Ecomwel Orthopaedic Centre provides this training to regular school teachers under Government of India’s Sarva Siksha Abiyan (Education for All).
